Displaying the green flag indicates that lifeguard services are active and weather conditions are favorable. It signals calm waters, without significant tides or waves, meaning that swimming and snorkeling are safe for everyone.

Following the Coast Guard ordinance issued on 04/16/25, the green flag has officially replaced the traditional white flag previously used in Italy. This change aligns Italian beach coding with European standards, making safety communication clearer and more consistent for international travelers.
