Venetian Republic Flag

It is an official flag of the Republic of Venice, which depicts the lion of St. Mark's passing over a country, where trees appear and a castle. The lion carries the Book of the Gospels open. The image of the Virgin which combines the lion has been added to devotion, while the shield with the eagle and the initials AB are probably referring to Antonio Bragadin, power and captain of Rovigo (1508-1509).
