Ladina Flag

The Ladin flag represents the Ladini people, an ethnic minority recognized by the Italian State. The Ladin flag of the Dolomites was born on May 5, 1920. Representatives of the five Ladin valleys gathered on the Gardena Pass to protest against the decisions of the Treaty of Saint Germain that took no account of the existence of this people. Further request was the recognition of a distinct ethnic group. The colors symbolize the nature of the Dolomites. The green the meadows and the fir woods, the white the perennial snow that covers the peaks of the Dolomites and the blue, the sky of the Dolomites. The flag was declared illegal during the fasciscm. It reappeared on 14 July 1946 on the Sella pass, where 3000 Ladins participated in a public demonstration.
