Flag Essex County Flag On sale
The Essex flag is the flag of the English County of Essex. The flag of Essex is quite old in origin and it displays 3 notched Saxon seaxes (cutlasses) on a red background (red Pantone 186 and Yellow Pantone 116).
The earliest references to the flag are related to the seventeenth century. A reference written in 1605 by Richard Verstegan alluded to the Anglo-Saxons bearing a standard of "Three silver seaxes in a field gules". Similarly, cartographer John Speed remembered the the flag for in his 1611 chart book "The Theater of the Empire of Great Britaine".
