Archduchy of Austria Flag

The historic flag of the Archduchy of Austria. The flag is the official version in 1849. The Archduchy was recognized just in 1453, when the Habsburg took the goverment of the Sacred Roman Empire, with Frederick III. The Archduchy of Austria, in german Erzherzogtum Österreich, was one of the most important Countries of the Sacred Roman Empire, the heart of the Habsburg Monarchy and the precursor of the Austrian Empire.
