Anarchic Flag

The most common anarchist flag is the red-black flag, it is a two-colored flag divided diagonally: the black is at the bottom on the right and the red at the top on the left. Murray Bookchin claims that it is a creation of the Spanish anarchists of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (1910). From Spain, the flag spread to all the neo-Latin countries, from Italy to Nicaragua. Another hypothesis makes Italy the departure of the red-black flag. In April 1877 the anarchists of the Banda del Matese, led by Errico Malatesta and Carlo Cafiero, hoisted the red-black flag on the town hall of Letino. Two years later the anarchist flag made its appearance in Mexico (1879) during the protest of December 14, 1879 in Mexico City.
