The flag of the Faroe Islands was introduced in 1931 by the Faroe Parliament. The faroese flag was designed by a faroe student in 1919, using the Island and Norway's flags: white with a red cross outlined in blue extending to the edges of the flag; the vertical part of the cross is shifted toward the hoist side in the style of the Dannebrog (Danish flag).
