The flag of Wisconsin is all blue with the emblem of the state in the middle. The flag dates back to 1863, the year in which it was designed. In 1981 two changes were made, the words "Wisconsin" and "1848" were added, ie the name of the state and the year of membership in the United States of America. The coat of arms has a golden shield in the center divided into 4 parts: on the top left a plow, representing agriculture; at the top right a pick and a shovel, representing the mines; in the lower left an arm holding a hammer, representing the industry; at the bottom right an anchor, representing the navigation. The shield is held by a sailor and a yeoman (generally considered a miner). Under the shield is a cornucopia, representing abundance and prosperity and 13 lead ingots, representing mining wealth and the 13 founding states.
