The official flag of the Electoral Palatinate (Germany). The Electoral Palatinate was founded in 1410 when Robert III divided his kingdom to four children. The Electoral Palatinate was the protagonist of the political-religious empire that characterized life in the seventeenth century. Frederick IV (1583-1610) supported the Evangelical Union; Frederick V (1610-32) captured, in the Thirty Years War, the ephemeral Bohemian crown (1619), but lost the electoral dignity and the State.
