Mexico

The flag of Mexico was introduced for the first time in 1821 as a simple green tricolor (auction side), white and red. In 1823 the Mexican coat of arms was added to the center of the white strip, representing the foundation, in 1325, of the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlán (on the soil currently occupied by the modern capital of the nation, Mexico City). The colors represent independence, religion and union among the Mexican states, however other interpretations have followed one another, the best known is that according to which the green represents the hope, the white the unity and the red the blood of the heroes of the fatherland.
