The flag of Barbados was adopted on 30 November 1966. It is a flag with three vertical bands, the two external blue and the central yellow one, at the center of which there is a black trident. The flag of the Caribbean island of Barbados has colors, and its meaning, similar to those of the Bahamian flag. In fact in this vertical tricolor the blue of the sea and the yellow ocher of the golden beaches are reproduced, reproduced on three bands of equal size. The yellow central band contains the national symbol of the black trident of Neptune, hence the entire maritime world, which originates from the ancient British colonial coat-of-arms. The trident given the "broken" shape of its handle, takes on a particular meaning and calls for liberation from colonialism.
