The state flag of Austria was adopted in 1984. This flag is also known as the War flag of Austria. The eagle design was created by Zeljko Heimer. It is presented as the flag of the austra with the three bands red, white, red, but in the center presents the coat of arms of Austria. The current coat of arms of Austria has been in use since the end of the First World War to symbolize the country after the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The symbols of the past regime remain in the eagle, not as bicephalous as in the Austro-Hungarian period, but with only one head. On the eagle's body is the ancient shield of the Archduke of Austria, also reproduced in the flag of the country, which holds with his feet a hammer and a sickle, added in 1921, attributable to socialist symbols, but which, joined to the crown mural on the head, symbolize the unity of social classes (workers, peasants and bourgeois). Broken chains were added at the end of the Second World War and indicate the liberation from the Nazi dictatorship.
