Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born 21 April 1926 and is the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as the Commonwealth realms, and head of the 54-member Commonwealth of Nations. Elizabeth II is also head of state of the Crown Dependencies. Elizabeth was the first child of Prince Albert, Duke of York and later King George VI, and his wife, Elizabeth. Her father was the second son of King George V and Queen Mary, and her mother was the youngest daughter of Scottish aristocrat Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. Elizabeth's husband is Prince Philip, the Duke of Edimburgh. The flag is divided into four quadrants. The first and fourth quadrants represent the ancient Kingdom of England and contain three gold lions, passant gardant on a red field; the second quadrant represents the ancient Kingdom of Scotland and contains a red lion rampant within a double treasure flory counterflory; the third quadrant represents the ancient Kingdom of Ireland and contains a version of the gold harp from the coat of arms of Ireland on a blue field.
