Southern Sudan Flag

The flag of Southern Sudan has its origins in the flag of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement. The flag was adopted under the Peace Agreement that ended the second Sudanese civil war. The colours of the Southern Sudan flag represent the Southern Sudanese people (black), peace (white), the blood shed for freedom (red), the land (green) and the waters of the Nile (blue); the gold star, the Star of Bethlehem, represents unity of the states of Southern Sudan.
