The flag of Romania was adopted the first time on June the 30th in 1866 by the Principate of Romania. The tricolor was restablished on December the 21st in 1989 after falling the regime of Chausescu. The vertical disposition of the bands blue, yellow and red derive from the Ottomann Sultan (1834).
